ITANAGAR, Aug 2: The State Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (SIRD & PR) during February, March and July 2021 has conducted District Level Sensitization Training Programmes on Social Audit and Panchayati Raj (PR) in 10 districts of Arunachal Pradesh.
Altogether 493 newly elected Zilla Parishad Members (ZPMs), Member Secretaries of District and Gram Panchayats, Block Development Officers (BDOs), APOs of DRDA, TA (RE), EO (RE), Panchayat Technical Assistants (PTAs), CCAA and CAs from the districts of Tawang, West Kameng, East Kameng, Pakke Kessang, Papum Pare, Lower Subansiri, Kamle, Upper Subansiri, Lepa Rada and West Siang participated in the training. Important RD and PR programmes like Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Programme Act (MGNREGA), Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP), 15th Finance Commission (FFC) grants, Social Audit and its importance in bringing transparency and accountability and roles and responsibilities of stakeholders were covered. Hands-on practical field training on document verification, compilation of findings for Social Audit of Gram Sabhas, Jansunwai etc. were imparted through mock Social Audit, field verification and door-to-door interactions with beneficiaries. Observing the enthusiasm shown by the newly elected ZPMs about the training, the SIRDPR has decided to cover the remaining districts in the current financial year itself. 
SIRDPR Director Habung Lampung further informed that based on feedback received from districts, the institute plans to conduct similar Social Audit Sensitization Training at Block level instead of District level in the next calendar year so that all primary stakeholders especially Gram Chairpersons, GP and SHGs members and village level government functionaries are covered as clientele groups.
