ITANAGAR, Oct 7:  In a significant development, the Arunachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board has issued closure order to M/s Shree Salasar Industries Pvt. Ltd. located at Lekhi village in Naharlagun. The decision comes as pollution control devices were found to be not functioning properly during inspection.
 In its order dated 30th September last, Board stated that, during the inspection on September 16, it was observed that the air pollution control devices particularly U-tube settler or cooler tube were not properly functional causing fugitive emissions to the nearby areas.  Whereas, a show cause notice was issued to the industry vide No. APSPCB- 662/2021/SSI/ Part-I/4798-7502 dated 20/09/2022.
The industry in its reply has informed that   it will take at least 2-3month’s time for the complete installation of new pollution control system in the industry. Further the industry requested for 5 (five) days time for repair and maintenance of existing pollution control devices. However, the Board has denied the same,since the industry is a running concern and the pollution control devices have to be necessarily functional at all times.
Further, exercising the powers conferred under Section 31A of Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981, the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 APSPCB  has ordered to close the  M/s Shree Salasar Industries Pvt. Ltd. located at Lekhi village Naharlagun with immediate effect till the new pollution control devices are installed and certified in full working conditions and the electricity connection of the industry is also ordered to be disconnected.
