PASIGHAT, Sep 5: The Head Post Office, Pasighat has once again drawn the ire of residents over allegations of poor and negligent service.
Earlier, the HPO was alleged of not delivering letters on time while handling postal home deliveries casually. Then the officials had assured of taking necessary corrective measures but services have been on a downslide causing harassment to common people.
There has been reports of several cases of banking documents being undelivered to customers and handed over back to State Bank of India Pasighat branch in bulks (read huge bags) which are later disposed off.
Several bank customers have alleged Pasighat Post Office of being very negligent in delivering letters and materials. Recently, a lady teacher had to undergo a harrowing time running for her Cheque book. Despite armed with a tracking number, the PO Pasighat was clueless about the cheque book which was dispatched from concern SBI HQ around a year ago.
The bank officials blame the Post Office for such negligence, while the post office are making lame excuses.
ATM cards and Cheque books are delivered to the concern customers to their respective addresses and only PIN is received by the bank for safety reason. But several customers are complaining about non receipt of their ATMs and Cheque books. At times, Post Office hands over long undelivered banking documents in large numbers which often puts us in trouble too, added a bank official.
There are also reports of other postal materials like Aadhaar cards, Job calling letter etc either getting misplaced or delivered late which is a serious concern and must be reviewed by the responsible Head Post offices at Itanagar and regional head at Guwahati.
