ITANAGAR, Mar 21: Setting an example of giving back to society, two skilled youths  volunteered for a school solar project installation in nine schools of Lohit district which will benefit around 2000 children mostly belonging to various tribal communities. 
The two skilled trainees were among the first batch of 15 local youths who underwent a basic electrician and solar training program. Sri Sri Rural Development Program Trust has started an Electrical and Solar Training centre with District Administration at Indira Gandhi Campus, Tezu named Sri Sri Kaushal Vikas Kendra, a skills development training centre which was inaugurated by Chief Minister Pema Khandu in February 2020.
Sri Sri Rural Development Programme Trust of The Art of Living Foundation, has been supporting and training installation of the solar power plant to incorporate renewable sources of energy. There are around 43 skill development training centres of SSRDP in India providing skills to the rural and urban youths. The project was mooted in Lohit district with the District Administration & APEDA to train local youth resulting in stable livelihoods, entrepreneurship skills along with the development of remote areas.
Within three months, with all unprecedented challenges during pandemic times, the SSRDP team worked round the clock for executing this school electrification successfully, well ahead of the scheduled agreement. And these skilled youth of Lohit helped to make it a big success.
Deputy Commissioner Marge Sora, today distributed certificates to these 15 trainees on successful completion of the training course and also gave away experience letters to the two outstanding trainees for their valuable contribution to the school solar project installation.
