Itanagar, Jul 22: A dedicated library volunteer Mimu Linggi, assistant professor, Denning College for Teachers’ Education, Tezu (Lohit, Arunachal Pradesh) has been selected for the Sister Nivedita Award “for her successful creation of a handholding by her college with Bamboosa Library to promote reading skill enhancement of Govt school students of Tezu during 2022-23”. 
While informing this, Lohit Youth Library Network coordinator and Padma Shri awardee S Mundayoor on Saturday said, Linggi’s enthusiastic leadership led to the smooth conduct of ‘RASA’, a programme to enhance the ‘read aloud skills’ of middle school students of Tezu, by involving BEd trainees from Sept 2022 to Feb 2023. 
The award is in memory of Sister Nivedita, a fiery champion of nationalistic education for girls in the first decade of 20th century. Ranganatha Award: Meanwhile, senior library volunteers Rinya Dellang and Manoj Kumar Giri have been nominated for the Ranganatha Award for providing laudable library services to the community during last year. Rinya, the volunteer library in-charge of Bamboosa Library during 2022-23, ably guided the young Govt school students to the library to develop an interest in books and help in making it a lively place of learning. She also took an active part in RASA activities, and worked to provide better systems of recording, arrangement and display of reading materials in the library. 
Manoj Kumar Giri, a senior volunteer at Dibang Youth Library, Roing, has actively contributed to ensure success of every programme organised by the library - both within Roing and at distant locations. The Ranganatha Award is in memory of two great champions of libraries and reading promotion - HH Rev Swami Ranganathananda, former president of the Sri Ramakrishna Math & Mission, and Prof S R Ranganathan, the father of library science in India. Both the awards were instituted by a Pune library patron. 
The awards will be presented shortly. Senior members of the Forum of Library Activists, Medo, and young readers have also been nominated for their commendable services during 2022-23, Mundayoor said. (UNI)
