DOIMUKH, May 18:

In view of frequent drowning cases in Pare river stretch at Midpu, the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Papum Pare on Thursday put up a warning signboard at the drowning prone area of the river to caution especially youths to refrain from taking bath or swimming.

Zilla Parishad Member, Tana Yayo expressed gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner, Papum Pare for addressing her plea to put up warning signboard at the area. She appealed the youths to refrain from taking bath or swimming at the stretch of Pare River especially at famous picnic spot, Midpu.

The ZPM informed that till date more than 15 drowning cases have been reported while many went unreported. She further asserted that district administration needs to do more such measures to sensitise people and to save young lives by putting up warning signboard at vulnerable points.

 DDMO and staffers of Disaster Management were present.
