ITANAGAR, Aug 24: The Special Investigation Cell (VIG) has achieved a major breakthrough in the case pertaining to the alleged illegal appointments of nurses based on fake and forged certificates under the National Health Mission (NHM), with the arrest of the accused on Wednesday.
The investigation was initiated based on a First Information Report (FIR) lodged by one  Apong Yangfo of Naharlagun on 15th June 2020. The complainant alleged that certain nurses were appointed under the National Health Mission using counterfeit educational credentials.
After a persistent search, the Special Investigation Cell (VIG) Police Station apprehended the accused on August 23 from Assam. The accused, identified as  Mukunda Madhab Boruah, 41, hails from Sundarbari village, Jhalukbari, Kamrup district, Assam. It is alleged that Boruah facilitated the acquisition of fake and forged certificates from a Nursing College in Assam, which were subsequently used for the illegal appointments.
The breakthrough was made possible through a combination of diligent efforts and technical analysis. The accused had been evading arrest for a substantial period, but the relentless pursuit of sources and utilization of technical resources finally led to his apprehension, stated SP(SIC)  Anant Mittal in a press statement.
The investigation into the case is ongoing, with the Special Investigation Cell delving into all aspects to uncover the extent of the alleged scam. The authorities are committed to ensuring a thorough examination of the matter and taking appropriate legal actions against all individuals involved in the illegal appointment of nurses based on fraudulent certificates, added SP(SIC).
