Roing, Jul 17: A 2-month long 2 shaft loom and 'Atondre' (Idu Mishmi war coat) weaving training program for 30 weavers began today. An initiative of IMCLS GI ZOH SHG for Idu Mishmi weaver who are registered under GI (Geographical Indication), the programme is sponsored by PGCIL, Roing with technical support from the District Administration and Textiles and Handicraft department.
Deputy Commissioner Lower Dibang Valley, Soumya Saurabh appreciated the initiative taken by the self help groups to preserve their traditional textiles and adopting modern technology for weaving.
GM (PGCIL) P. Kakarla and DD (Textile and Handicraft) Aprang Pertin assured their full support for such initiatives.
