ITANAGAR, Mar 25: The Hydro Power Development Corporation of Arunachal Pradesh Limited (HPDCAPL) successfully organized a one-day Sensitization Program on Carbon Neutrality at its corporate office in Itanagar. The event aimed at raising awareness, promoting sustainable practices, and exploring Arunachal Pradesh’s potential in the carbon market.
Samuel Changkija, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forest (Environment & Climate Change), attended as the Chief Guest, while Kishan Prajapati, Associate Director of Creduce Technologies, attended as the Resource Person, and  Varaprasad K, AGM of NABARD, was present as the Guest of Honour.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest  Samuel Changkija emphasized the importance of a structured roadmap and a robust carbon credit trading mechanism to achieve sustainability goals effectively. The discussions underscored Arunachal Pradesh’s immense potential in the carbon market, offering new opportunities for green jobs and sustainable revenue generation. The involvement of financial institutions and NABARD’s Climate Change Fund further strengthened the initiative, ensuring structured carbon credit trading mechanisms that would contribute to both economic growth and environmental sustainability.
Speaking on the occasion,  Kishan Prajapati provided insights into carbon credits, voluntary and compliance carbon markets, and India’s regulatory framework, emphasizing Arunachal Pradesh’s vast potential in the carbon market as a source of green jobs and revenue.
HPDCAPL CMD, Er. Toko Onuj, reaffirmed India's Net Zero by 2070 commitment, stressing the urgent need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while outlining HPDCAPL’s role as a Carbon Development Unit in Arunachal Pradesh.
Varaprasad K spoke on the significance of climate resilience, NABARD’s Climate Change Fund, and the collaborative role of financial institutions in supporting carbon neutrality. Representatives from financial institutions expressed their strong support for the initiative, recognizing its potential to drive sustainable development in the state.
The event saw active participation from various key stakeholders, including Er. Takar Batak, Deputy Manager (E/M) of HPDCAPL, as well as officials from  NHPC, DOEFCC, NABCONS, the Forest Department, and major financial institutions such as SBI, ICICI Bank, and YES Bank,
