AALO, Nov 11: A senior teacher of the Ramakrishna Mission School (RKMS), Aalo, in West Siang district, was found dead at his government staff quarters.
The deceased has been identified as Sukumar Chowdhury (52), a long-serving faculty member of the school, residing in Staff Quarter No. 165 within the RKMS campus. His body was discovered around 1:30 p.m. by his wife, Pallavi Chowdhury, who is also a teacher at the same institution.
According to police sources, Chowdhury was found hanging inside the washing shed adjacent to his residence.
The police officials confirmed that an Unnatural Death (UD) Case No. 16/25 has been registered under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023. The case is being investigated by Sub-Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh of Aalo Police Station.
The inquest proceedings were carried out in the presence of Assistant Commissioner-cum-Executive Magistrate Jumkar Karbi. The body was later sent for post-mortem at the Zonal General Hospital, Aalo, where authorities stated that the exact cause of death will be confirmed following the autopsy and forensic reports.
At the time of the incident, his wife and daughter — a Class X student — had gone to school, leaving him alone at home.
