SEIJOSA, Nov 18:  In a meticulously planned search operation, Seijosa Police successfully apprehended a key suspect involved in a postal cheating case under the National Small Savings Scheme. The operation, led by SDPO Seijosa Sashi Dore, was executed early this morning in the Noapamua area of Gingia Police Station jurisdiction, Biswanath Chariali, Assam.
The accused, identified as  Gano Kanta Hazarika, was arrested from his apartment following coordinated efforts by police teams from both Seijosa and Gingia. The operation was conducted under the close supervision of SP Pakke Kesang Tasi Darang and involved officers including OC PS Seijosa SI S. Thinley, along with HC D. Talley, Ct T. Sera, Ct Godak Raja, Ct T. Takar, Ct Adam Namkhang, and Ct F. Wangsa.
Hazarika is accused of defrauding several residents of Namorah village, Dissing Passo Circle, in the Pakke Kesang district by luring them to deposit substantial sums of money under the National Small Savings Scheme through him. Instead of depositing the funds at the post office, he allegedly embezzled the money, duping unsuspecting individuals of lakhs of rupees.
The operation relied heavily on human intelligence and technological tracking after Hazarika had evaded arrest on multiple occasions. Acting on credible tips, the police narrowed down the suspect’s location, leading to his eventual capture.
While Hazarika has been taken into custody, police confirmed that an accomplice involved in the case remains at large. Efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend the absconding co-conspirator.
SP Pakke Kesang, Tasi Darang, lauded the team’s dedication and highlighted the operation’s success as a testament to the department’s commitment to justice. "We remain steadfast in our pursuit of the remaining accused and will ensure that justice is served to the victims of this scam," he said.
