CHANGLANG, Aug 21: The 31st Assam Rifles organized an awareness programme at Rima and New Jukhi Village in Kantang circle following the recent order issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Changlang district on July 16, last. The initiative aimed to sensitize villagers about the latest security guidelines and the importance of their cooperation in maintaining peace along the Indo-Myanmar border.
During the programme, security personnel highlighted the need for villagers to refrain from extending shelter or any form of assistance to individuals suspected of insurgent activities. They also urged the people to avoid wearing military-style or camouflage pattern clothing, as such attire could lead to misidentification and misunderstandings during patrolling and security operations.
The villagers were advised to restrict movements during night hours, particularly in jungle, river, and border areas, to prevent accidental encounters with security forces engaged in ongoing operations. Assam Rifles officials stressed that full cooperation from village authorities and the timely sharing of information with security agencies are crucial to counter insurgent activities and ensure public safety.
The event witnessed active participation from local residents, including village elders and youth, who expressed their commitment to support the administration and security forces in preserving peace and stability in the region. The programme concluded with an appeal for collective vigilance and community partnership in the fight against insurgency.
