Longding, Apr 28: In a swift and coordinated response to the abduction of two construction workers, security forces neutralized three militants of the NSCN (KYA) group during a joint operation in the Pangchao area of Arunachal Pradesh’s Longding district on Sunday.
The workers were kidnapped on the night of April 25 (Friday), from the general area of Pangchao. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, troops of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles launched a joint search and rescue operation on April 27 in the same region.
Contact was soon established with the insurgents, leading to a fierce gunfight. In the ensuing exchange of fire, three cadres of the proscribed NSCN (KYA) outfit were eliminated. Security forces also recovered four automatic weapons, a significant quantity of ammunition, and other war-like stores from the encounter site.
One of the abducted construction workers was successfully rescued during the operation. The search for the second kidnapped worker is ongoing, stated a release issued by the PRO, Ministry of Defence.
