KHONSA,  May 29: The Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles, in a unique initiative in the insurgency affected Tirap district, flagged off the Second Annual Summer Camp for children of the district, on Monday. The camp was flagged off by Colonel Aman Ahluwalia, SM, Commandant, Khonsa Battalion of the Assam Rifles at its headquarters, thus setting the stage for a 6-day long camp. Previously, registrations for the camp saw an overwhelming response. Out of the more than 100 registered children, 60 volunteers were selected to attend the camp, which aim at providing a wholesome experience to the young children through educational, cultural and adventure activities.
The CO 6 Assam Rifles  informed that the camp intends to develop innovative thinking, hone natural skills and develop a penchant for hobbies. The children would also be taken on outdoor excursions and educated on various social issues through positive indulgence.
The summer camp in the insurgency affected Tirap district would provide a platform for children who otherwise are devoid of such opportunities. This would infuse a sense of confidence while contributing significantly towards their holistic development, the security forces said in a statement.
