PASIGHAT,  Oct 22:  The Adi Bane Kebang Youth Wing (Apex) has strongly urged the State Election Commission, Arunachal Pradesh, to immediately transfer the Panchayat jurisdiction of five villages — Depi, Depi-Moli, Detak, Sido, and Korang — from Lower Siang District to East Siang District in line with the state government’s official gazette notification.
Addressing a press conference today, ABKYW President Oki Dai said that while the government has already issued a gazette notification transferring the administrative control of these villages to East Siang District, the corresponding Panchayat jurisdiction has not yet been shifted. They stressed that this delay could lead to disenfranchisement and administrative injustice for the villagers during the upcoming December 2025 Panchayat elections.
The Youth Wing stated that the five affected villages — now under the administrative control of East Siang — have no justification to participate in the Panchayat process of Lower Siang. The leaders warned that failure to implement the transfer before the polls would compel the villagers to boycott the upcoming elections.
In its memorandum to the Chief Election Commissioner, the ABK Youth Wing requested the Commission to acknowledge and implement the gazette notification transferring the five villages to East Siang, issue necessary orders for transferring the Panchayat jurisdiction from Nari Zilla Parishad (Lower Siang) to Ruksin and Bilat Zilla Parishad segments (East Siang) as proposed by the Deputy Commissioner, East Siang, ensure the implementation before the upcoming Panchayat elections.
The ABKYW appealed to the authorities for immediate redressal, stating that the matter is purely administrative and supported by law and logic, and any further delay would amount to negligence towards the rights of the villagers.
