ITANAGAR, Nov 20: Journalist Ramesh Behera, who begun journalism as sub-editor for two years (2003-05) with The Arunachal Times under executive editor Pradeep Kumar Behera, when the news desk was functioning at Banderdewa, passed away at Chennai on Tuesday noon due to cardiac arrest.
Late Ramesh, who hailed from Banpur under Jajpur district of Odisha, was about 60 years and is survived by his wife and a daughter, his cousin brother Prof B L Behera, who retired from Itanagar DNGC recently, told this daily.
After quitting Arunachal Times, he had worked with a regional English daily in Bhubaneswar before joining The Statesman as assistant editor at Kolkata and served till November 2016. In search of better opportunity, he went to New Delhi to work with Asian Age, but being a very creative scribe, he got offer from New Indian Express as assistant editor (graphics).
He shifted to Chennai while working with the New Indian Express, but joined Naba Bharat Times later and working from home since COVID pandemic, while his wife has been serving as a teacher in a private school, Prof Behera added.
Arunachal Press Club chief advisor Pradeep Kumar Behera, on behalf of media fraternity of Arunachal Pradesh, conveyed deep sense of condolence to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
