Sahakarita Sammelan concludes with emphasis on grassroots empowerment
PASIGHAT, Feb 14: The two-day Sahakarita Sammelan (Cooperative Conclave) concluded today with a series of engaging and informative sessions, focusing on strengthening cooperative institutions and promoting sustainable business practices.
The valedictory function was graced by Ojing Tasing, Minister for Cooperation as the Guest of Honour, while Tapi Darang, MLA attended as the Special Guest. Both dignitaries reiterated the State Government’s commitment to empowering cooperatives and enhancing grassroots economic development.
A technical training session on Fisheries Cooperatives was conducted by Sadiqur Laskar from the NFDB Regional Office, Guwahati, highlighting scientific approaches and opportunities in the fisheries sector. This was followed by an interactive open floor discussion with fisheries farmers.
A workshop on Business Planning for Cooperative Societies by NCDC provided practical guidance on financial management and strategic growth. A presentation on the MoCinitiative and IYC celebration by DRCS Gyati Kobing further emphasized policy support and expansion of cooperative activities.
Adding strength to the session, Self Help Group-turned cooperative Bosi Didum Cooperative also shared its success journey. General Manager Ooty Tayeng presented a detailed PowerPoint highlighting the transformation from SHG to cooperative, operational strategies, achievements, and future plans. Her presentation reflected the growing leadership of women-led institutions in the cooperative movement and inspired participants with a practical grassroots model.
In his address MLA Tapi Darang urged cooperative members to work collectively and strengthen institutional frameworks for long-term sustainability and encouraging societies to effectively utilise government schemes.
The Sammelan successfully provided a platform for dialogue, knowledge sharing, and recognition, reinforcing the spirit of cooperation across the district. DIPRO
