PASIGHAT, Oct 12: A Rural Haat was inaugurated at Oyan in East Siang district today by General Manager of NABARD Arunachal Pradesh Regional office, Partho Saha.
The Rural Haat has been established with financial support of NABARD and it aims at providing a marketing platform to the farmers and SHGs of the nearby villages of Sille- Oyan to sell their agricultural and horticultural produce, livestock products, handloom and handicraft items etc. This Rural Haat will mitigate the marketing hardships faced by the local farmers, vegetable growers and women self help groups. The Rural Haat project has been implemented by Young Mission Adventure Club NGO.
Among others, NABARD District Development Manager Nitya Mili, Chairman YMAC NGO, GB, bazaar committee, farmers and SHG members were present at the inauguration programme.
Saha while addressing the gathering said that the Rural Haat at Oyan was the first marketing intervention of NABARD in the East Siang district. This will greatly benefit the members of FPOs and other farmers of the nearby area in marketing and selling their produces. He also advised the Rural Haat Management Committee and the vendors of the Haat to maintain the cleanliness of the haat by self-contribution from the vendors. 
Later during the day, GM NABARD also inaugurated the Farm Sector Training Programme on Sericulture (Silkworm rearing) in Sille and Micro Enterprise Development Programme (MEDP) on Cake making training at Sika Tode village which have been implemented by Young Mission Adventure Club. He also visited the ongoing Skill Development Programme on Adi Dress/Handloom making training sanctioned to Dite Mopang Welfare Society at Sille. 
Saha also announced that the Arunachal Pradesh Adi Textile Products had been taken up for Geographical Indication (GI) registration by NABARD and the application had already been filed successfully which will give a unique identity to the handloom products of the district being produced by the local weavers.
