ITANAGAR, Jul 27: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Arunachal Pradesh, has appreciated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for acknowledging the remarkable efforts of the people of Roing, Lower Dibang Valley District, during the 124th episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ broadcast today.
In his address, the Prime Minister highlighted Roing as a shining example of community-driven change, where waste management was once a significant health concern. He lauded the local residents for taking initiative and launching the ‘Green Roing Initiative’, which not only tackled wastes effectively but also led to the creation of an entire park using recycled materials.
This national recognition stands as a proud moment for the people of Roing and the entire state of Arunachal Pradesh. The BJP Arunachal Pradesh unit sincerely applauds the dedication, unity, and environmental consciousness demonstrated by the citizens of Roing, stated a release.
Green Roing is a grassroots initiative led by a group of passionate and proactive youths under the leadership of Ibi Mepo, dedicated to the daily cleanliness and beautification of Roing Township. The initiative functions in close collaboration with DUDA Roing, the District Administration, and NGOs and the strong support of local MLA Muthcu Mithi.
A major highlight of this movement is the iconic ‘Waste to Wonder’ Butterfly Structure at the Forest Park—a symbol of sustainability, conceptualized by former DC Soumya Saurabh, and constructed using 10,000 recycled plastic bottles under the craftsmanship of UD AE Jimu Mele. In addition, AE Hydro Rupa Mimi built innovative mesh dustbins from waste materials, furthering the message of environmental responsibility.
The BJP Arunachal Pradesh expressed its sincere gratitude to the people of Roing, the NGOs involved, the local administration, and all stakeholders who contributed to the success of this initiative. Their collaborative efforts are a beacon of inspiration for the entire nation.
