Mani, Jan 24: Expressing concern over the rising road accidents particularly amongst the youngsters, Smt.Parul Gaur Mittal asked the Headmaster of Govt. Secondary School, Mani to initiate formation of a Road Safety Cell in the school, for which she assured to provide financial assistance.
Mittal was addressing the students and teachers of the school during a drawing competition on road safety held as a part of the final leg of the Road Safety Awareness week by the District Road Safety Council , Papum Pare on Monday.
“This  cell will arrange road safety programmes and create awareness , thereby inculcating good driving habits among youths,” she added.
Special Secretary Mittal further advised the students to strictly follow the traffic rules and regulations and practice road safety measures in letter and spirit.
“Many lives can be saved by following Road Safety measures,“ she added while urging all the participants to share the information they learnt during the programme to their peers and parents.
Dr.Nikita Panggam, EAC lauded the District Road Safety Council,  Papum Pare for organizing the event and said that “Such Literary events compel the participants to research on the topic and thus the children learn in the process”.
Headmaster of the school Nabam Rikam assured to extend cooperation to the District Administration in arranging such events in future.
