Yupia, Jan 17: Deputy Commissioner, Papumpare Sachin Rana kick started the District Road Safety awareness campaign  on  Tuesday.
Rana, who is also the Chairman of the District Road Safety Council requested all the stakeholders  to actively participate in the event by creating awareness on road safety measures and ensuring strict enforcement of rules & regulations  related to road safety.
District Transport Officer Yumlam Yajum Lombi advised all the drivers to install the 'NextGen  mParivahan' app of the transport department.
"The mParivahan app can be used to easily access important documents like driving license, vehicle registration certificate, insurance validity among other things. The app also has a feature to create virtual RC and DL, which is considered an authentic proof," she further informed.
DTO Lombi also informed that  during the  weeklong campaign various activities will be organised throughout the district to create awareness among the general public and to give an opportunity to all stakeholders to contribute to the cause of road safety. This includes various awareness campaigns related to causes of road accidents and measures to prevent them, activities with school  students, drivers and all other road users.
On the occassion T-shirts, bookmarks and posters for the awareness campaign were also released by the DC cum Chairman.
