RONO HILLS (DOIMUKH), Sep 5: While the rest of the country was celebrating ‘Teachers Day’, the Rajiv Gandhi University Teachers Association (RGUTA) took out a protest for the fulfillment of their three-point demand in the university campus near here on Monday.  
Following the protest, the university Vice Chancellor has assured to fulfill the demands of the teachers.
Speaking to reporters, RGUTA President Dr. Daniel Mize said that the association has been pressing the demands since 2020. The demands were never heard until today.
He said that the VC has assured to fulfill their demands by this evening. However, if the authority fails to comply with their assurance in writing, the association will discuss their further course of action.
Mize said that their demands were for the consideration of faculty members who were stranded out of campus during the COVID- 9 lockdown period following the DoPT order. Demand for the release of withheld annual increment of faculty members of July 2022 for reasons known to the authority.
“Likewise our third demand was for the acceptance of papers/articles published in Peer-reviewed Journals along with UGC old approved journals and New UGC CARE listed journals for the computation of academic scores both for new appointments and CAS promotions in the Link,” he said.
