RONO HILLS, May 3: A day-long national webinar commemorating the International Day of Labour on the theme ‘Quality of Life and Workforce amid pandemonium of COVID-19’ was organized jointly by the Departments of Sociology and Food Technology, Rajiv Gandhi University here on Saturday.
205 participants comprising students, researchers, academicians, administrators and scientists from all over India participated in the webinar. RGU Vice-Chancellor Professor Saket Kushwaha cited the contributions of various iconic social activists for the upliftment of quality of life of the country’s
labour force and discussed the impact of the pandemic on the job sector. Pro VC Professor Amitava Mitra spoke on education, health and economy during the pandemic and Registrar Dr N T Rikam opined for prioritizing vaccination for the labour community.
Associate Professor, Ethiopian Civil Services University Dr Pragya Tiwari Gupta focussed on the problems faced by migrant labourers during the pandemic.
