Doimukh, Aug 24: The Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Vivekananda Rock Memorial & Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari, formalizing the promotion of learning and teaching Japanese language for teaching, research, faculty & student’s personality development and cultural exchange.
The MoU was signed by the RGU’s Director of Institute of Distance Education Prof. Ashan Riddi and the General Secretary of the Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari Bhanudas Dhakras, with the Finance Officer cum Registrar in-charge of Rajiv Gandhi University Otem Padung and the Pranth Sangathak of Vivekananda Kendra (Arunachal unit) Rupesh Mathur as the signatories as witnesses from the two parties in the presence of other dignitaries in physical mode.
RGU Vice Chancellor Prof. Saket Kushwaha termed it a welcome step and expressed his optimism that the MoU will be action oriented and result yielding as the Kanyakumari based Vivekananda Kendra has great potentiality in the field of education, rural development, women and youth empowerment activities. 
The MoU aims at providing avenues for promotion of inter-institutional teaching and research between the two organizations with teaching and learning of Japanese language. 
Director of IDE, RGU Prof. Ashan Riddi in his deliberations emphasized on the importance of Japanese language in the present world job market and its high demand. The Joint Registrar of RGU Dr. David Pertin while presenting the gist of the MoU spoke on the importance of the joint venture in the present context and termed it a promising one stretching the academic wings of both the organizations which will pave way for running of a 6-month long certificate course programme in Basic Japanese Language where the learners will learn Japanese grammar and scripts such as Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji.
