Doimukh, Sep 12: A newly constructed 100-seated girl’s hostel of Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), Rono Hills, was inaugurated today by the Vice Chancellor of RGU Prof. Saket Kushwaha. The hostel has been constructed from the fund allocated through Higher Education Financing Agency (HEFA) of the Ministry of Education and the construction work was executed by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) Kimin division and named as the Pakke Halls of Residence (for girls). 
Expressing his satisfaction over the execution of the project, the Vice Chancellor termed it as an achievement for the university where the executing agency and the university system worked in tandem to complete the project on time. With this, 100 more students will get accommodation in the university campus. He also informed the gathering that two more hostels for girls will be completed soon. The foundation stones for the two hostels got repositioned in the entrances of the two buildings today by the Vice Chancellor in presence of the who’s who of the university and from the executing agency.
RGU’s Registrar Dr. Nabam Tadar Rikam also lauded the executing agency for ensuring quality of works. He informed that the project was started last year on 7th March with an estimated cost of Rs. 7.715 Crore. RGU’s Finance Officer Prof. Otem Padung who was very elated informed that the hostel rooms shall be allocated on premium payment basis and maintained that the facilities are of high standards. In the sidelines of the inaugural programme, RGU’s Joint Registrar (UGC & Projects) Dr. David Pertin informed that the hostels and other projects are being funded and executed through HEFA loans. RGU availed the HEFA allocations which is a new method of funding the premier institutions by using the instrument of securitizing the future flows. Under this scheme, RGU as a central government run institution agreed to escrow a specific amount from their internally earned resources and have drawn a credit line which has been used for creating the required capital and research assets as per the laid down guidelines of the governmental funding agency. The Executive Engineer of RGU Basant Kumar Shah informed that the rooms were furnished with modern day appliances and facilities and there is a dining hall of 50 boarders at a time.
