Doimukh, Jul 28: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), and Population Council Institute, New Delhi for establishment and promotion of inter-institutional teaching, research, faculty & student development programs, cultural exchange for the furtherance of students and faculties in an academically mutually benefitting way. 
The MoU was signed by the Registrar of Rajiv Gandhi University Dr. N.T. Rikam and the Country Director of the Population Council Institute, New Delhi Dr. Niranjan Saggurti in presence of the Vice Chancellor of RGU Prof. Saket Kushwaha and with Professor in Economics of RGU Dr. Vandana Upadhyay and the Lead of Partnerships from PCI Punit Mishra as the signatories as witnesses from the two parties in the presence of other dignitaries in blended mode.
The RGU Vice Chancellor Prof. Saket Kushwaha termed it a welcome step and expressed his optimism that the MoU will be action oriented and result yielding as the India chapter of the Population Council has immense resources and potentiality in the field of research activities, data analysis and can jointly develop research projects and publications. The MoU aims at providing avenues for promotion of inter-institutional teaching and research between the two organizations. The VC further divulged that both the organisations shall have access to data free of cost while complying with all applicable requirements as per obligations under the Data Protection laws of India (IT Act 2000) and subsequent amendments thereto, if any, which may arise in connection with this MoU.
The Registrar of RGU Dr. N.T. Rikam said that the objectives based on the MoU will yield its desired results and will be mutually beneficial for both the organizations enabling empanelment of the development professionals and researchers of PC Institute in RGU as guest lecturers, visiting faculty, and for delivering guest lectures on select technical topics and could jointly develop training modules and conduct professional skills training on subjects such as monitoring, evaluation, and accountability for young scholars.
The country Director of the PCI, New Delhi Dr. Niranjan Saggurti while expressing his happiness reiterated that the works will be carried out within the framework of Intellectual Property Rights on benefit sharing basis under the provisions as agreed upon in the MoU.  He further deliberated on the facilitation of providing internship opportunities for students pursuing master’s degree at RGU in Statistics, Economics, Demography, Public Health and other Social Science subjects, while promoting research in areas of mutual interest.
