RONO HILLS, Mar 11: The much awaited Arunachal Panorama festival began at Rajiv Gandhi University campus. The festival is celebrated to promote and showcase the rich tradition and culture of the tribes of the state by the students.
Minister for Urban Development, Town planning, Housing, Law & Justice, Nabam Rebia attending the opening ceremony lauded RGU’s role in preserving tolerance among the young students and assured that all the fundamental needs of the institution will be taken into consideration on priority.
Vice Chancellor, Prof Tamo Mibang in his message reflected on the importance of such event which was initiated to cater to the need for cultural awareness among the students. A memorandum citing the need of better road connectivity, street lights, and student activity centre in the campus was presented to the chief guest by President of Rajiv Gandhi University Students Union (RGUSU) Tania Tagia on the occasion.
The next two days of the festival will continue showcasing glimpse of rich rituals and traditions throughout the event. Old social conventions such as rituals, story recitation, folk dance , traditional games and sports will be exhibited and performed by the participants. Traditional food stalls will also be displayed with numerous cuisine and delicacies hailing from every part of the state.
