Itanagar, Apr 5: A total of 44 selected students pursuing their higher education in different universities and colleges in Arunachal Pradesh from various disciplines was flagged off late Friday evening to take part in the Yuva Sangam phase 4 flagship programme under the Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat initiatives being hosted at the NIT-Surat, Gujarat scheduled from April 8-12 next.
The Vice Chancellor RGU, Prof. Saket Kushwaha in his brief speech said the Yuva Sangam is an initiative of Government of India which focuses on conducting exposure tours of the youths comprising mainly students studying in Higher Educational institutions (HEIs) & some off-campus youths from one state or Union Territories to the other and vice versa. It provides an immersive experience of diverse facets of life, development landmarks, recent achievements and youth connect in the host states, he added.
Speaking to the RGU delegate, RGU Registrar Dr. NT Rikam encouraged them to yield best out of their visits, where the students will get a multi- dimensional exposure under five broad areas — the 5 Ps- Paryatan (Tourism), Parampara (Tradition), Pragati (Development), Paraspar Sampark (People-to-people connect), and Prodyogiki (Technology). The Finance Officer of RGU Prof. Otem Padung, termed it as a valuable opportunity within the larger context of India as an emerging global leader, while the Joint Registrar of RGU Dr. David Pertin, who is accompanying the contingent as the chief team escort informed that the program is an initiative under Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat led by the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India and executed through the AICTE, New Delhi and is a 7-day duration tour of youngsters in paired states to enhance people to people connect and is organized to encourage youth as future leaders to raise awareness of global issues, exchange ideas amongst other things. The programme is patronized by Ministries of Culture, Tourism, DoNER, Sports & Youth Affairs, I & B, Railways, Home Affairs with support from states, IRCTC, ZCC, NYK and SAI. For the Yuva Sangam Phase 4, the RGU has been made the nodal institute from the state to be paired with the NIT-Surat and lead the contingent. The delegate is being escorted by Dr. David Pertin, Joint Registrar of RGU and four others. Amongst others the Dean faculty of Basic Sciences Prof. Sanjeev Kumar, Head, Dept. of Economics Prof. SK Nayak & other officers and parents, were present to witness the flagging off ceremony.
