Rono Hills, Sep 24: As part of the nationwide Swachhata Pakhwada and Swachhata Hi Seva – 2025 campaign, Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) organized a series of Shramdaan activities with a strong focus on sanitation, cleanliness, and hygiene awareness. The programme aimed at repairing and renovating public sanitation facilities while sensitizing the community about the importance of cleanliness and healthy living.
The activities were carried out at RGU Balvatika, RGU Day Care School, and the Government Secondary School, RGU Campus, under the supervision of the University’s Sanitary Officer. The initiative concentrated on improving hygiene standards within the school premises and ensuring a safe and healthy environment for students and staff.
At these institutions, volunteers and staff undertook extensive cleaning of classrooms, play areas, and public toilets. Minor repairs and renovations of damaged toilet facilities were completed, and waste was collected and disposed of properly. Alongside the cleaning drive, awareness sessions were conducted for students on personal hygiene, environmental cleanliness, and sustainable sanitation practices.
The team also repaired broken fixtures, ensured proper water supply in sanitation facilities, and worked closely with school authorities to maintain these efforts in the long run.
The collective contributions led by the Sanitary Officer brought about significant improvements in sanitation and cleanliness at all three schools. This initiative not only enhanced the physical environment but also reflected the University’s commitment to community service, reinforcing the role of RGU in promoting hygiene, sanitation, and public health awareness within and beyond its campus.
