DOIMUKH, May 24:In order to sensitize people about disaster preparedness, a daylong awareness programme was held at Rono Ground, Yupia organized by District Disaster Management in collaboration with 12th Bn NDRF and Fire &Emergency Services, Naharlagun today. 

During the occasion, a 14 member team from 12th Bn of NDRF, Doimukh led by Sub-Inspector, Umrao Singh Rawat demonstrated various lives saving methods, techniques and safety measures to be taken during disasters like earthquake, landslide, flood, fire accident and drowning cases etc. 

While, a team of APP Fire and Emergency Services, Naharlagun headed by P Roy demonstrated on fire safety measures tips on LPG, use of  Fire Extinguishers and precautions to be taken during forest fire etc, wherein men and women enthusiastically took participated. 

Addressing the gathering, SDO Doimukh, Ibom Tao called upon the people to take full advantage of the awareness programme and spread the message among family and friends. 

ZPM, Doimukh-II, Tana Yayo Nabam who was also present on the occasion said that awareness on disaster management is very important for all the people and provides us with lots of important information on safety measures, which we can apply in our day to day life during any emergency.

Earlier, In-Charge DDMO, Y.Jerang, briefed the gathering about the aims and objective and thanked the 12th NDRF and Fire and Emergency Services for their constant support in creating awareness among the people. 

People from all walks of life participated in the programme including PRI leaders and Gaon Buras and public of Doimukh along with Field Officer and staff of Disaster Management, Yupia.
