Changlang, Sep 4: Regional Committees of both Arunachal Pradesh and Assam to resolve border dispute met today at Rangrikan village under Namtok circle of Changlang District, which is one of the many villages in Changlang having border dispute with Assam.
Minister Kamlung Mosang, Deputy Speaker Tesam Pongte, MLAs Phosum Khimhun and Laisam Simai, DC incharge Arjun Mohan, ZPM, Executive members of Tirap Changlang Longding People's Forum, representatives from affected villages -- Namtok, Hachengkan, Yopakan, Mallu gaon 2&3, Phinbiro, Tirap Sakan etc, GBs, public leaders etc were also present at the meeting. 
Assam was represented by a team comprising of Minister Atul Bora, MLA Bhaskar Sharma, DC Tinsukia, Asstt. Commissioner Margherita, DFO Digboi were present at the meeting. 
This would be the first meeting between the Regional Committees of Changlang District of Arunachal and Tinsukia of Assam. The main motive behind this meeting was to assess the situation on the ground and have firsthand interaction with affected villagers. 
At the very outset of the meeting, Arjun Mohan, ADC Changlang, briefly explained the case scenario, and their plight.
He also requested the members to do a physical survey/on ground survey of the boundary by involving both the parties and not just on paper. 
Representatives of affected villages and  President TCLPF placed their grievances before the committees.
Mosang, speaking on the long pending issue said that the boundary commission didn't visit Changlang District then, though the district shares a long boundary with Assam.
"The District has five assembly constituencies and all share border with Tinsukia District of Assam. There's much political will to resolve this issue once and for all this time," Mosang said adding that he is hopeful that this meeting will bring positive outcome. He requested the public to tackle the issue with a positive attitude.  He also spoke about the 36 Tangsa villages situated under Margherita subdivision out of which 6 lies along the Arunachal-Assam boundary. 

Atul Bora speaking on the occasion assured the villagers of taking up their grievances at the appropriate platform. 
"Assam shares boundary with all the Northeastern states and shares the longest, some 800+ km with Arunachal," he said adding that the chief ministers of both the states are proactively working together to resolve the long pending boundary issue.
Later the committees sat down and discussed the further course of action. It was decided that joint team comprising of DCs and other officials of the districts will do a ground survey and accordingly it will be placed before both the chairpersons, stated a DIPRO report.
