SEIJOSA, Apr 7: The regional committee for Assam and Arunachal Pradesh on the border issue in the Biswanath-Pakke Kessang area has come to a conclusion to re-align the borders of both states following a meeting held here on Friday.
Both the counterpart also agreed that no further claim will be made by both states and no fresh encroachment will be allowed in the border areas by the states.
Speaking to the reporters, Arunachal regional committee chairman Mama Natung, said that a minor issue regarding the demarcation of border areas of Pakke Tiger Reserve Forest Guest House, Seijosa ILP check gate, Monai Village, and Namorah village has been resolved.
Natung said the concern was earlier placed last month during a meeting held at Guwahati. However, today after a proper discussion with the Assam counterpart represented by the Assam regional committee chairman Pijush Hazarika,the matter has been resolved.
He said his Assam counterpart has assured to provide the same area of land to Arunachal Pradesh wherein the inhabitants of Assam have settled, and  vice-versa.
“During the year 1951, under the Bordoloi committee, the GSI had demarcated the boundary of the four areas of the state. Now, the new task is to re-align the border areas' Geo-coordinates,” he said.
Meanwhile, Assam regional committee chairman also the Minister WRD(Assam) Pijush Hazarika also said during the meeting the final decision was that the government of Assam will legally hand over the land which was actually of Assam. In response, the government of Arunachal Pradesh will be providing the same measurement of the area to Assam.
He said the final resolution of the meeting will be recommended to the respective Chief Ministers of the states, who will look into the decision and accordingly act upon it.
Among others, MLA Seijosa Biyuram Wahge (Arunachal), MLA-Sootea Padma Hazarika (Assam), and officials from both states were present at the meeting.
