BOLENG, Jul 28: In a landmark move aimed at strengthening rural livelihoods and promoting grassroots empowerment, the Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Ojing Tasing, today inaugurated the District Mission Management Unit (DMMU) office of the Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM) at Pangin in Boleng, Siang District.
The newly inaugurated DMMU office will serve as the strategic headquarters for ArSRLM activities across East Siang, Siang, and Upper Siang districts, streamlining implementation and monitoring of rural development programs. Alongside the DMMU, the Minister also unveiled the Block Mission Management Unit (BMMU) office at Boleng and a dedicated Tailoring Unit under BMMU Boleng—both initiatives designed to uplift rural households through skill development and income generation.
Minister Ojing Tasing praised the collective efforts behind the establishment of the DMMU office and underscored its importance in transforming Siang into a model district for rural development. He encouraged ArSRLM officials to push forward with dedication and innovation to empower communities through SHG-led initiatives, entrepreneurship, and skill-based livelihoods.
Dr. Jarbom Taipodia, District Mission Manager of Pangin, delivered the welcome address, while Jechonia Islary, Chief Operating Officer (P), presented a detail overview of ArSRLM’s achievements in the region. The program highlighted successful outreach initiatives, SHG formations, and livelihood enhancement efforts undertaken in recent years.
The Deputy Commissioner Siang District, who sponsored the Tailoring Unit, applauded the ArSRLM team for their ground-level engagement with every Gram Panchayat and urged them to continue driving holistic development in remote areas.
Zilla Parishad Chairperson Oshi Pabin Mibang, who is herself an SHG member, shared her appreciation for ArSRLM’s transformative work and called for further expansion of livelihood schemes that directly benefit women and marginalised communities.
