Itanagar, Aug 26: In a significant virtual meeting, Balo Raja, Minister for Urban Affairs, joined Manohar Lal Khattar, Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs along with Vivek Pandey, Commissioner Urban Affairs and senior officers of ULBs to discuss the rollout of Swachhata Hi Seva 2025, a flagship annual event aimed at promoting cleanliness and sanitation across urban areas.
During the meeting, the operational guidelines for Swachh Shehar Jodi were also released, marking a new milestone in the government's commitment to urban sanitation and cleanliness.
The annual Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 will be launched on September 17 and culminate on October 2, which will be celebrated as Swachhata Hi Diwas which broadly focuses on three key elements viz; Transformation of Cleanliness Target Units, Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivirs by organizing single window camps for preventive health checkup and Clean Green Utsav to celebrate eco-friendly festivals & promote plantation drives.
The meeting focused on strategizing the implementation of Swachhata Hi Seva 2025, identification of blackspots, Cleanliness Target Units(CTUs) and timebound beautification of the reclaimed CTUs emphasizing, community participation, garbage-free cities, and sustainable waste management practices.
The release of the operational guidelines for Swachh Shehar Jodi provides a roadmap for cities to adopt best practices in waste management and sanitation, fostering a collaborative approach between urban local bodies and citizens.
