ITANAGAR, Oct 2: Starting with Raj Bhavan, the 150th Anniversary celebration of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi was celebrated across the state with different programmes.
In Raj Bhavan a ‘Sarva Dhrama Prarthana Sabha’(all religion prayer) was organised on Tuesday. Various religious leaders and special invitees including school children from different schools of the State attended the programme.
Led by Governor of Arunachal Pradesh BD Mishra and first lady Neelam Misra and joined by people from all faiths paid floral tributes to the Father of the Nation. Faith leaders offered prayers for world peace and amity in their respective customary ways.
The Governor exhorted the people of the State to imbibe Gandhian thoughts and way of life. He said that incorporating truthfulness, brotherhood, cleanliness, transparency, accountability and honesty in life, administration and projects, will be the greatest tribute to Gandhi ji on his birth anniversary celebration.
To commemorate the occasion, the first lady released a documentary on traditional weaving, title, ‘ Bhunai Ke Rangin Duniya- Loin Loom Weaving’ conceptualized by her. The documentary, which aims to promote traditional weaving, was dedicated to the Father of the Nation by the First Lady of the State, on his Jayanti, who in his lifetime worked and promoted Khadi as mean for self resilience and empowerment.
BJP Arunachal Pradesh carried out cleanliness drive and distribution of fruits at Tomo Riba Institute of Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) in Naharlagun led by State BJP President Tapir Gao.
The day started with garlanding and offering of floral tributes to the statue of the father of the nation at Mini Gandhi Park in Niti Vihar. The function was also attended by Chief Minister Pema Khandu and many other dignitaries. Later the State BJP unit carried out cleaning activity in the TRIHMS and hospsital compound. Hundreds of BJP office bearers, seniors leaders, Morchas and Karyakartas participated in the cleaning activity. The BJP team also distributed fruits to the students of Donyi Polo Vidya Niketan  School at  Pachin Colony which was organised by State unit of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha  ( BJYM). 
NAHARLAGUN: A   mass social service programme was held at BJP Mandal office, Lekhi village, Naharlagun  today on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.  BJP workers from three mandals like Nirjuli, Naharlagun and Itanagar participated in the mass social service.
Participating in the programme, BJP Vice President Tame Phassang appealed to the people to maintain cleanliness in the twin capital cities.
BOMDILA: Stating that lots of planning, efforts and team work goes into realizing a dream, MLA Japu Deru said, the noble thoughts and good deeds of Mahatma Gandhi have been instrumental in paving the way for cleanliness in the country. He lauded the Team Arunachal under the leadership of CM Pema Khandu and all the other stakeholders for ensuring and making Arunachal Open Defecation Free (ODF) well before the deadline. Giving a clarion call to the people of the district, MLA Deru urged for self introspection and to redefine one’s thought and deeds in order to keep one and the surroundings clean.
Earlier, lauding the performances of the students from various schools of the district headquarters Bomdila, Deputy Commissioner Sonal Swaroop said the dream of the glorious India could be achieved only by being clean in thought and deeds and by maintaining cleanliness.
The culmination of the Swachhta hi Seva in all the circles of the district was organized in a befitting manner by way of Shramdan, Prabhat pherry, painting competition, Ramdhun and pledge for Swachhta.
KHONSA: Tirap District celebrated Gandhi Jayanti  and conducted “Swacchata Hi Seva” to commemorate Gandhi’s birth anniversary. Participating in the “cleanliness drive, Deputy Commissioner PN Thungon administered clean India pledge. Interacting with the huge gathering at Khonsa Market Vehicle stand, the DC said that he would constitute a cleanliness drive monitoring team for Khonsa township especially for market area consisting of “Nocte Mother’s Federation” headed by President Chanon Mongwang, KBWC President Tingwang Hosai and Secretary KBWC Nahang Tangjang and department of DUDA.
At Bera village, Khonsa West MLA Tirong Aboh administered pledge for clean India and paid floral tributes to Gandhiji’s portrait. Later he actively participated in the mass social service conducted under the aegis of Dadam Area Youth Association.
News of social service conducted  as a part of “Swachata Hi Seva” on account of Gandhi Jayanti has been received from ADC H/Q, Deomali, EAC H/Q, Lazu, Circle H/Qs Dadam, Circle H/Q Soha and Bari-Basip including schools.
