ITANAGAR, Jan 4: In a re-run of what happened in front of the District & Session Court Yupia relating to the Techi Meena murder case hearing three days ago, hundreds of people today staged a dharna in front of the District Court, Ziro to express their resentment against the bail plea filed by the Principal of the private school in Raga accused of raping a 14-year old minor girl on December12 last.
Family members of the victim, Community Based Organizations, NGOs and students resorted to protest outside the court premises demanding capital punishment of the accused and against granting of his bail. The bail plea has been rejected by the court, Advocate SD Loda who is representing the victim’s family informed. Loda said the bail was rejected by the court keeping in mind the seriousness of the crime and the influence-making capability of the accused given the fact he is the Principal-cum-owner of the school. Moreover, as per police there are still some witnesses whose statements are yet to be collected which led to the bail’s rejection, Loda added.
The 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her school Principal in Raga in Kamle district on December 12 last.
A case has been registered against him under IPC and POCSO Act and he is now under judicial custody in Ziro.
