ITANAGAR, Mar 9: In an unfortunate incident, at least four staff quarters of RKM Hospital were burnt to ashes on Thursday. No casualties have been reported but properties worth lakhs were lost in the inferno.
Speaking to the media, Officer Incharge-Fire Station Itanagar, K Tayum informed that as soon as they received the call, Fire Tender vehicle left for the spot. He added that, the reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained and investigation is in progress. Few other quarters were also damaged.
He also expressed resentment that due to traffic in some areas of Ganga area as well as hindrances on the roadside, they had some trouble reaching the spot. Moreover, we have sought fire tenders from Naharlagun and State Assembly. So at least five Fire Tenders were pressed in the operation to douse the fire and also stopped the fire from spreading further, added Tayum.
