ITANAGAR, Jul 24: The All Arunachal Pradesh RTI Activists Association (AARTIAA) has levelled serious allegations against the Public Works Department (PWD) accusing it of illegal appointments of more than a hundred Junior Engineers (JE). The association claims that the appointments were made in the name of a waiting list during 2015-2016 without conducting any examinations.
AARTIAA's Chief Auditor cum Issue Chairman, Nabam Tapak addressed the media on Monday, revealing that the controversy dates back to February 25, 2015, when an advertisement was published in the local daily newspapers for 10 vacant JE positions. Subsequently, another advertisement was issued on September 25, 2015, increasing the total vacancies to 33.
Upon the release of the results for the written test and viva voce on November 18, 2016, the Public Works Department reportedly selected 61 candidates out of the 66 posts, leaving 116 candidates on the waiting list. Shockingly, the department allegedly appointed all the candidates from the waiting list without conducting any examination, leading to suspicions of irregularities in the appointment process.
Further the association has urged Chief Minister Pema Khandu to ponder upon the issue and initiate an inquiry into the incident.
