ITANAGAR, Feb 16: Expressing strong resentment over the lackadaisical attitude of the state government on the 13-point demand of the PAJSC on the APPSC paper leak case, today the general public who attended the mass rally from Akashdeep to Tennis Court unanimously declared dawn-to-dusk Itanagar bandh on February 17 next.
Holding placards and banners, thousands of aspirants, parents, students and public  today joined the mass rally organized by the Pan Arunachal Joint Steering Committee (PAJSC).
Addressing the gathering, social activist Sol Dodum said that acknowledging the demands of the aspirants, parents and the common public on their long fight against corruption prevailing in the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC), as well as observing the lackadaisical attitude of the state government, today various organizations and the common public has unanimously decided to call capital bandh to protest the scheduled oath-taking ceremony of new Chairman of the APPSC.  "Government should  cancel this oath-taking ceremony. They have to face the fate of the public before conducting oath-taking ceremony," he added.
If the state government is adamant to go ahead with its decision, the same public will boycott the ensuing Statehood Day, where the President of India is expected to be the Chief Guest, Dodum said. He also added that the bandh call on February 17 will be followed by an indefinite democratic movement if the authority fails to resolve the 13-point demand of the aspirants.
He further appealed to the business community, educational institutes, commercial vehicles, students and public to support the movement to eradicate corruption from the state.
Whistleblower Gyamar Padang also urged the public to support the movement against corruption. "This is the right time to raise our voice and stand for our rights, it is now or never. If we fail today, then it will be a failure of the public," he said.
Earlier, Chairman PAJSC, Techi Puru also declared that there will be no more meetings behind closed doors with the state government. "Enough meetings have been held already that too without any outcome on our charter of demands," he said.
Among others, President- ANYA Byabang Joram, Chairperson- Arunachal Nari Shakti (ANS) Nimi Taba, President- Pro Dam Movement Taw Poul, and many others addressed the gathering.
