ITANAGAR, Nov 17:

With no response coming from the State Government and Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC), an aspirant identified as Tater Gao who has been on indefinite hunger strike since Thursday announced to switch to a dry fast (no food or water) from Sunday to mount more pressure.

Earlier on November 15, demanding re-conduct of APPSCCE-2017 alleging anomalies in setting of question papers, Gao has gone on indefinite hunger strike as part of an increasingly bitter campaign seeking immediate cancellation and re-conduct of the examination for free & fair competition.

Addressing the gathering here at IG Park, Gao said that reason for switching to dry fast is that there has been no communication or response from both commission and state government on the issue in the last couple of days.

“If Commission fails to initiate action till Sunday then I will go on a “ fast unto death” to seek justice,” further added Gao while seeking support from all section of society for the noble cause.

Meanwhile, in a separate press conference held today at the press club, representative of aggrieved aspirants, Natung Jomoh lamented that the prevailing situation is nothing but an outcome and accumulation of uncertainty, doubts and grievances created by the Commission over the years.

“There has been no single year starting from 2007 where the Commission had conducted any examination free of controversy,” Jomoh alleged.

“Therefore, we demand that ongoing mains examination be suspended till the expert committee constituted by Rajiv Gandhi University VC submit its reports and the Court verdict comes out,” he appealed.

He also cautioned that if anything happens to the protesting aspirants who are on hunger strike then the commission has to take full responsibility for it.
