ITANAGAR, Aug 24: Members of various community based organisations, students organizations including students under the banner of the All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) participated in the protest rally held against the rape of a minor student by a teacher in Pasighat on Wednesday.
Holding placards and banners, participants shouted slogans seeking justice for the 16-year-old and demanded capital punishment for the accused involved in the heinous crime.
Speaking to the media, the victim’s brother said that the culprit must be hanged to death so that no such crime is repeated in the future with anyone. "The wound my sister sustained will  recover with time but what about the mental trauma which she has to bear her entire life," he asked.
"We respect and regard teachers as God but accused Nong Jamoh (38) who is like her father has ruined her life. A criminal has no religion nor tribe; he must be punished as per the law. He should be terminated from his job and should be brought before the public to accept his crime," the victim's brother added.
Demanding exemplary punishment to the culprit, President-AAPSU(Women –Wing), Ponung Darang urged the police to expedite the investigation process and file the charge-sheet as soon as possible.
"AAPSU condemns such incidents and will always stand against such heinous crimes.AAPSU women's wing will soon organize an awareness program in various schools about such incidents and also about good touch & bad touch," she added. Earlier, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Token Saring informed that as soon as they received the information about the incident on August 20 last,  a special team comprising officials from Women Police Station Pasighat and General Police Satiation Pasighat was formed to investigate the case. After acting on the statement of the victim, police swung into action to arrest the accused teacher.  However he was evading arrest, but the police team by using human surveillance arrested the accused within seven hours.

"As of now the accused is in judicial custody and police has gathered all the samples and evidence. The police team will file the charge sheet as soon as reports from FSL arrive," informed the DySP.
A 16-year-old girl was brutally raped by her English teacher named Nong Jamoh, at his government quarter on August 20 last. It is learnt that the victim was called by the teacher to his residence on the pretext of discussing the syllabus for the examination.
