ITANAGAR, Jan 24: The People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA) on Tuesday named Leki Norbu, a former ‘gaon burah’ (village headman), as its candidate for the upcoming by-election in Lumla constituency in Tawang district.
With a  motive to end corruption and  nepotism, the state's lone regional political party  People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA)  announced the name of the candidate for Lumla Assembly Constituency  By-Election to be held on February 27 next.
Speaking to the media, General Secretary PPA Kaling Jerang informed that, Leki Norbu  a common man from Zemineng village of Lumla Constituency who was also Gaon burah for the last 12 years will be fielded  in the scheduled By-Election of 1- Lumla Assembly Constituency.
"We have respect for the family members of the former MLA Late Jambey Tashi, however, PPA has to field a candidate to maintain democracy.  This By-Election will be the beginning for PPA to gain the trust of the people for the upcoming General Assembly Election in 2024. Our objective to fight the election will be eradicating corruption and nepotism prevailing in the state," Jerang added.
There is no personal differences with the family members of Late Jambey Tashi, I respect him but  there should be equal  opportunity for every people of the constituency, said PPA candidate Leki Norbu. He added the main agenda is equal opportunity and equal development to each  & every one of the constituency in all field.
"Earlier, in the name of development in the constituency only the people in power have enjoyed everything, though it may be contract works of any other schemes of the central and state government," asserted Norbu.
 Meanwhile, President PPA Kahfa Bengia also urged the people of Lumla Assembly Constituency to extend support to  Leki Norbu. "He is a grassroots person and knows the pulse of the people; let's end nepotism culture and  create a new beginning with PPA," he added.
