Khonsa, May 3: Landslides triggered by rain and strong winds severely damaged several 33 kV and 11 kV power lines on Saturday night in Khonsa and its vicinity.
The affected areas include Khonsa town, Pansumthong and Hollam. The landslides have reportedly washed away electric poles and disrupted the power supply across multiple locations.
Restoration work is currently underway; however, continuous and heavy rainfall across Tirap district has significantly hampered the efforts of the field staff. Due to the ongoing adverse weather conditions, power supply lines under the Khonsa Electrical Sub-Division have been completely damaged at several points.
Officials have indicated that restoration of power supply may take several days, subject to improvement in weather conditions.
The Power Department has appealed to the public to bear with the inconvenience and has assured that all efforts are being made to restore electricity at the earliest.
