PASIGHAT, Aug 22: In a swift and coordinated action, the Women Police Station (WPS), Pasighat, rescued an 8-year-old minor girl who had been illegally engaged as a caretaker at a private residence and subjected to cruelty by the owner.
The case was registered following telephonic information about cruelty inflicted upon the child. Acting promptly, the Protection Officer (DCPU) was informed, and in coordination with the District Child Protection Officer (DCPO), a joint team along with independent witnesses raided the premises. The child was rescued, and the accused Toli Pertin was apprehended.
The rescued child was immediately provided medical care and examined at Bakin Pertin General Hospital, Pasighat. Later, as per the direction of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), she was placed in a Child Care Institution. Efforts are currently underway to trace and reunite her with her parents.
A case has been registered under Section 118(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Section 14 of the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, and Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act.
The East Siang Police, Pasighat, reiterated its unwavering commitment to protecting children and ensuring strict legal action against all forms of exploitation and abuse. Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and to promptly report any such incidents to the nearest police station.
