ITANAGAR, Aug 27: To empower Law Enforcement Agency and Judiciary of the state to combat cyber-crime, Police personnel were trained on cyber forensics by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC), Kolkata in association with National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), Itanagar. The 3-day Beginner Level Training Program on Cyber Forensics was held from  August 21-23 last at NIELIT Itanagar.
The training has been implemented under the project titled “Development of Cyber Forensics Training cum Investigation Labs in the North Eastern and cloud based centralised Cyber Forensics Lab Infrastructures”, funded by the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), being implemented in eight North Eastern States by NIELIT Kohima & CDAC Kolkata. 
Ritu Das, Director In-Charge, NIELIT Itanagar in his welcome address briefed about the objectives and deliverables of the project. He also mentioned the importance of the project in tackling the cases of Cyber Crime in the State of Arunachal Pradesh and the North Eastern Region. Apart from training in different levels he also emphasised the importance of investigation and analysis of cybercrime cases in the North Eastern states and Arunachal Pradesh in particular. He also thanked MeitY, GoI and Police Headquarters (PHQ), Itanagar for their support in implementing this project.
The Beginners level training was attended by 10 Police personnel of the rank of Inspector & Sub Inspector. Training program includes theory and Hands-on Practical in various aspects of cyber forensics including Mobile forensics and Social media Investigation etc. Training was conducted by resource person Santanu Pakhira, CDAC, Kolkata, Shammi Sharma, NIELIT Itanagar and other officials of NIELIT Itangar.
Under the project, Cyber Forensics Training Facility cum Lab has been set up to train up the police personnel & judiciaries of the state and also to assist the Law Enforcement Agency to investigate and carry out forensics analysis of cyber-crime related cases taking place in the state.
Under the project, which has commenced since March 2020 and to continue for a period of 5 years, all together 160 police personnel in Awareness Level Training, 160 in Beginner Level Training, 40 in the Advanced Level training and 40  in Judiciary Level beneficiaries shall be trained and skilled up under the joint efforts of NIELIT Itanagar and CDAC Kolkata to empower the Law Enforcement Agency & judiciaries of the state to combat cyber-crime.
