ITANAGAR, Oct 3: In a significant breakthrough against rising incidents of theft from mobile tower sites in the Itanagar Capital Region, Niti Vihar Police recovered stolen property worth over ₹3.5 lakh, including DG batteries, earthing cables, copper wires, and other items, and arrested a habitual offender involved in the crime.
Acting on repeated complaints of DG battery theft, a special police team led by Inspector Takhe Tasso (OC PS Niti Vihar) and comprising SI Tejab Tadar, ASI D. Gupta, and Ct. Yura Tado was formed under the close supervision of SDPO Itanagar Kengo Dirchi.
In the early hours of 1st October last, the team, with the support of tower officials, apprehended the accused red-handed while attempting to steal DG batteries from a mobile tower site at Panch Ali. The accused has been identified as Taram Bhai (29),  a resident of F & G Sector, Itanagar, and is known to be a repeat offender involved in similar theft cases. 
Following his arrest, the police recovered five DG batteries, earthing cables, copper wires, and other household items, all valued at approximately ₹3.5 lakh.
A case has been registered under Section 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the investigation — led by SI T. Tadar — is ongoing to trace additional stolen property and identify any possible accomplices.
Police have urged telecom companies and residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to help curb such criminal acts in the region.
