Naharlagun, Jun 5: The Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) Police on Wednesday launched a rigorous Inner Line Permit (ILP) checking drive across several key locations, including Naharlagun, Nirjuli, Papu Hills, and Banderdewa.
During the drive, teams led by local police thoroughly verified the documents of non-Arunachal visitors. Several individuals were found violating ILP regulations, and legal action has been initiated under the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation Act, stated SP Naharlagun Mihin Gambo  in a press statement.
The police emphasized that such checking drives are being intensified to ensure strict enforcement of ILP norms in the region. Citizens from outside the state are once again urged to carry valid ILPs at all times and extend full cooperation during routine verification drives.
Authorities have reiterated that the ILP system is a crucial mechanism for safeguarding the rights and identity of indigenous communities and maintaining internal security, added SP.
