Naharlagun, Apr 28: In a significant breakthrough under the ongoing anti-drug drive Operation Dawn 2.0, Naharlagun Police apprehended three individuals, including two drug peddlers, and seized a substantial quantity of suspected heroin in a series of swift operations.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by Inspector Krishnendu Dev, Officer-in-Charge of Naharlagun Police Station, along with SI Vivek Linggi and other team members, apprehended a drug addict near Kangkar Nallah Bridge on April 27. Upon interrogation, crucial information was extracted, leading the team to conduct a follow-up raid in Lower Model Village.
The raid, conducted under the close supervision of SP Naharlagun Mihin Gambo and SDPO Rishi Longdo, resulted in the arrest of two drug peddlers: Techi Lez (30) of Lekhi and Tana Jamja (28) of Doimukh. The operation was carried out in the presence of Executive Magistrate Khoda Bath.
During the search, police recovered 16 vials of suspected heroin weighing 20.9 grams, 11 empty vials, packaging materials, and `7060 in cash suspected to be proceeds from drug sales. All items were seized as per the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
A case has been registered at Naharlagun Police Station (NLG PS Case No. 57/25) under Sections 21(b), 27, and 29 of the NDPS Act. Both accused have been formally arrested, and further investigation is underway.
Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to combating the drug menace through continued vigilance and community cooperation under Operation Dawn 2.0.
