PASIGHAT, Aug 16: The Special Judge POCSO Act, East Siang District, Tageng Padoh sentenced a man—Job Modi of Mariyang village to 20 years of imprisonment with a fine under section 6 of the Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences Act, for committing aggravated penetrative sexual assault on his 4-year-old neice.
The FIR was lodged on 20th February 2019 at Mariyang Police station by the mother of the victim stating that the accused had sexually assaulted her 4-year-old daughter and a case under section 376 IPC R/W section 6 of the POCSO Act was registered against the accused. The mother further told the police that Job Modi is a maternal uncle by relation and he was staying in her house for the last 11 months.
The matter came to light, when the mother of the victim had gone to her daughter’s school at Yingkiong, when the teacher informed her that her daughter was urinating frequently which was unusual for her. The mother who then asked her daughter, was told of the heinous act by her uncle on multiple occasions; he also threatened the victim  not to disclose it to anybody. DIPRO
