PASIGHAT, Oct 11:  East Siang district administration sounded alert of deluge due to unprecedented rise of water level in the Siang river. Taking stock of the situation, Deputy Commissioner Tayi Taggu today made several rounds of visit around the river banks and appealed the people residing in low lying areas to refrain from venturing into the river and nearby water bodies to prevent any eventualities. He however, asked the people not to panic as the water resources and disaster management departments are keeping vigil on the situation and any impending danger would be informed to the people in advance. Taggu also directed the government officials not to leave the district headquarters and stay alert to deal with the situation.
EE, WRD, Pasighat Gonong Pertin informed that he has been in constant touch with the EE, Central Water Commission (CWC) Dibrugarh, Abhijit Kasliwal who is incharge of CWC Guaging Station for Siang river at Tuting, Yingkiong and Pasighat. No abnormal water flow in the upstream of Pasighat is noticed at the CWC gauging station so far. On October 10 & 11, Pasighat town received 2nd and 3rd highest rainfall breaking all records of last 25 years but in-spite of such heavy rainfall in Pasighat, the flow in Siang river was within safe levels. WRD staff members are assessing damage due to heavy rainfall this week.
DDMO Tsangpa Tashi informed that Pasighat recorded highest rainfall on October 10 & 11 i.e. 482mm and 480mm respectively adding that the river is still rising but flowing bellow the danger mark. The danger level is 153.96 while water level measured today was at 152.12. 
In view of continuous rainfall in the district, the SDRF teams are monitoring the situation closely by visiting all vulnerable areas under Pasighat township.
EE Highway, Dabe Perme informed that Pasighat-Pangin section was blocked at 64km. NH-513, Pasighat-Siger section was blocked at 14.700km, 15.100km and 16.500km. Numerous landslides occurred along different locations of different National Highways. Man and machineries have been deployed.
EE Power (E) Tarik Mize informed that heavy downpour raised the Sille river and washed away the electric poles and other electrical accessories on 11kv line linking Sille to 12mile snapping power supply in the area. Tremendous rainfall is hampering maintenance and repairing works.
